PhotoSound Technologies was founded in September 2015 by Hans-Peter Brecht, Sergey Ermilov and Vassili Ivanov in Houston Texas. The initial thought to form a company was triggered after two of the founders attended the inaugural NIH I-corps training late 2014. The company operated in true startup fashion out of one of the founder’s garage. From there, they built the first functional prototype of their Photo-Acoustic- Fluorescent-Tomography (PAFT) system, and of ADC96 their first multichannel amplified data acquisition system within a year. Both were well received at the company’s initial product launch during the BIOS exhibition at Photonics West in January of 2017.

2017 was a year of intense customer interaction. PhotoSound installed evaluation systems at Georgia Tech and Tulane University where they are tested under real life conditions in terms of durability , image quality and user friendliness. Customer feedback lead to further refinement of the PAFT system and a new line of DAQ systems to be presented at Photonics West 2018.

2018 will be a year of expansion.  Photosound has hired two additional employees and is scheduled to move out of their startup facilities into a 3000 square foot dedicated facility. This move will streamline manufacturing, and maintain high quality in spite increased production for our customers.
